Fairfax, Va. The George Mason women's tennis team finished it's 2008 campaign with a convincing 7-0 win over the University of D.C. The Lady Netters finish the season with an 11-12 overall record.
The Lady Netters said good-bye to its lone senior and co-captain Julia Moscato on Wednesday. The scoring started with Moscato and Alicia Van Zandt winning the opening doubles match and then Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger followed with a win of their own. The Mason team then swept the singles with convincing scores to finish off the match.
Coach Curtis had this to say following the match. "I am very proud of how this young team has matured throughout this season by winning 7 of our last 10 matches. As for my senior Julia Moscato, the team and I will miss her quiet leadership that she has contributed to this team over her last four years."
Mason will look to build on this season next year as they return all players except Moscato. After a year of learning, the young team that had four freshmen in the top six most of the year will look to become a dominant force in the CAA in the seasons to come.
