The Patriots women's tennis team defeated Morgan St. 5-2 at Druid Park in Baltimore on Thursday afternoon. Mason improves to 10-10 on the season and will host Longwood on Sunday for their last home match of the season.
The match opened with doubles, the Patriots took two of the three matches to earn the opening point. Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger defeated Morgan States No. 2 team 8-1. The Patriots No. 3 team of Meredity Cutchin and Alex LaCoste easily won their match 8-0.
Aryn Christman gave Mason a 2-0 lead defeating Olczak at the #5 singles match, but Morgan St. closed the gap with a win at #3 singles. Meredith Cutchin's win at #6 put the Patriots up 3-1. The Bears pulled closer with a win at #4. Linsday Gray solidified the win for Mason with a 6-2, 6-4 win at #1. After saving ten match points in the second set, Stacey Berlinger ended the match with a tough win by winning the 2nd set tie-breaker 20-18.
Mason's match at Radford on Saturday has been cancelled. The team looks to make it two in a row when the Patriots host Longwood on Sunday at 1pm.
