Fairfax, Va. The George Mason women's tennis team fell at UMBC this afternoon, 7-0. The Lady Netters struggled against a formidable foe and dropped to 2-7 overall on the season.

The UMBC Retrievers improved to 3-3 on the season. UMBC took all singles matches in two sets. Mason's Aryn Christman put up the best score for the Lady Netters at the No. 5 spot on Thursday as she was defeated 6-3, 6-2, by Joy Adewumi. Julie Moscato was the only other Patriot to get a point in both sets, as she was defeated by the Retrievers Cornelia Carapcea, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 4 position.

In doubles, Mason's Alicia Van Zandt and Moscato played hard but were on the short end of an 8-4 score against UMBC's Emily Mannex and Carapcea. Lady Netter freshmen, Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger, were defeated in the No. 1 position 8-2, by Alice Chen and Pascaline Cette.

Mason will host George Washington this Saturday at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts at 2 p.m. The Lady Netters will be looking to get their third team win on the season before heading out on a three-match road trip.
