Mason Golf Tied for 13th After First Day of Lonnie D. Small

Fairfax, Va. After day one of the Lonnie D. Small Spring Classic, the Patriots are tied for 13th overall with Towson. Day two of the tournament will be played today. Currently, Elon sits four strokes ahead of Florida Golf Coast and five strokes ahead of host Campbell.

Mason holds an overall stroke score of 313 and is led by Silas Vansky who shot an opening round four-over par 76. Vansky sits tied for 32 and is followed by teammates Marshal Tinsley, tied for 40th, and J.J. Amoruso in 59th place. Rounding out Mason's top five are Clark Bixler shooting an 81, tied for 70th and Tyler Frank shooting an 82, good for 75th place.

Elon is leading the tournament overall with a score of 289. Jimmy Lytle of Elon is the individual leader with a first round score of five-under par 67. Three players are tied for second overall with scores of 69 on day one.

The tournament will wrap up this afternoon in Buies Creek, NC. The Mason golf team will travel to Puerto Rico this weekend to play in the Palmas Del Mar Collegiate.
