Women's Tennis Earns Victory Over Mount St. Mary's

Fairfax, Va. The George Mason women's tennis team fought through the windy weather on Saturday to defeat Mount St. Mary's, 6-1. The Lady Netters will host Loyola on Sunday; the match will begin at 11 a.m. at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts.

In doubles action, Mason took two of three from Mount St. Mary's. Lindsay Gray and Stacey Berlinger earned an 8-4 victory over Chelsea Johnson and Emily Grugen. Sarah Dieffenbach and Meredith Cutchin earned Mason's second win in doubles with a dominant 8-1 showing over Mount St. Mary's Ashley Wentzel and Alissa Thayer. The Lady Netters continued to their winning ways into singles as they took five of six from Mount St. Mary's. Gray and Berlinger at the No. 1 and 2 spots respectively, each earned victories in three sets. Julia Moscota defeated Grugen at the No. 4 singles spot by a score of 6-2, 6-3. Aryn Christman and Cutchin rounded out the top six each showing strong singles performances and winning in two sets.

The Lady Netters will face off against Loyola in action on Sunday and then host Howard at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon. On Tuesday the team will travel to Towson before returning home for another four-match home stand.
