The Patriot women's tennis team is 2-0 on their spring break tour of North Carolina. Mason defeated Barton College 8-1 on Monday and Mount Olive 8-1 on Tuesday.
The Patriots easily handled Barton College in the first stop on the tour with the closest match at the top singles position as Mason's Lindsay Gray won her match by a 6-4, 6-4 margin. The Green and Gold's #2 singles player Stacey Berlinger didn't lose a game in her two sets.
The match against Mt. Olive was much tougher, but produced the same result. Two singles matches could have gone either way as Berlinger won her first set, lost the second then lost in the tiebreaker. Aryn Christman won her match at #5 singles after claiming a hard-fought first set 7-6(7-3), then easily took the second 6-2 for the point.
Mason travels to Wilmington to play the Seahawks of UNC-Wilmington.
