FAIRFAX, Va. - Behind a career-high five goals from sophomore attacker Megan Udovich, the 17th-ranked George Mason women's lacrosse team continued its mastery over in-state rival Virginia Tech with an 11-5 victory on Saturday afternoon at George Mason Stadium. With today's win, the Patriots hold a 9-3 advantage in the all-time series which dates back to the 1995 season.

Despite holding a decided advantage in the all-time series, Mason was seeking a bit of redemption against the Hokies after losing last year's contest by a goal, 8-7. Rachel Culp scored the game-winner a year ago with seven seconds left in regulation at the Virginia Tech Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium in Blacksburg, Va.

Today's contest was never in doubt as Mason jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, thoroughly dominating Virginia Tech in nearly every phase of the game. The Patriots led 4-0 at the break and 8-0 with 17:01 left in the contest. Udovich scored once in the first period of play and four times in the final 30 minutes. Junior Brittany Berger was also active on the attack, scoring three goals to tie her career high. Berger also tallied three draw controls in the game.

Seniors Megan Bartlett and Laura King also came up with three draw controls for a Mason squad that tallied 12 as a team, compared to five for Virginia Tech. The Patriots also had a decided advantage in possession, taking 33 shots to 21 for the Hokies.

Five players found the back of the net for Virginia Tech after the game was already out of reach. Senior attacker Kady McBrearty finished with three points on a goal and two assists.

George Mason takes the field again on Wednesday, March 5 against George Washington. The first draw is slated for 7 p.m.
