WASHINGTON, D.C. - The 17th-ranked George Mason women's lacrosse team made the short trip to Washington, D.C. to take on the ninth-ranked team in the nation, the Georgetown Hoyas, on Wednesday afternoon at GU's Multi-Sport Field. Unfortunately for the Patriots, the Hoyas jumped out to an early lead and Mason was unable to recover, falling by a final score of 14-7.

Georgetown scored the first five goals of the contest before Mason was able to answer with a free-position goal by senior attacker Laura King with four seconds remaining in the first period of play. Molly Ford scored two of her game-high five goals in the first half for the Hoyas, who took a 5-1 lead into the intermission.

After the break, the Patriot attack was far more prolific than in the first 30 minutes, scoring six goals. However, Georgetown was able to find the back of the net as well, scoring nine goals to take a 14-7 win.

King paced the Patriots with three goals. Freshman Madalyn Jamison, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Week, duplicated her performance from her debut against then-No. 9 Johns Hopkins, scoring a pair of goals.

Up next for the Patriots is a matchup with in-state rival Virginia Tech on Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.
