Head Women's Rowing Coach Geoff Dillard announced that both Madison Beumer of Ballston Spa, NY, and Bridget Hally of Shrewsbury, MA signed National Letters of Intent to attend George Mason University.

Beumer is a High Honor Roll student at Saratoga Springs High School. She rows for the Saratoga Rowing Association, one of the East Coast's top junior rowing programs. She has earned two NY state championships, two Canadian Scholastic National Championships, a National Title in the Jr 8 at the U.S. Scholastic Nationals in 2007, a bronze in the Varsity 8 in 08, and a third place finish this summer in the pair at the Canadian Henley.

The 6-footer Beumer also attended the Junior National Team Development Camp in the summer of 2007. Coach Dillard comments, "Madison is still relatively new to the sport of rowing but is already a very accomplished rower. She has won several championships and I think that speaks volumes about her athletic ability and competitiveness. I think we are only seeing the beginning stages of what Madison is capable of achieving in the sport of rowing and we are very excited she is coming to Mason."

Hally, also a 6-footer rows and plays basketball for Shrewsbury High School. She is this year's team captain and has already led her varsity boat mates to a 2nd place finish at the Massachusetts Public School Rowing Association's Fall Championship. Coach Dillard adds, "Bridget has all the personal and physical characteristics we are looking for in a top rower for our program. She is athletic, strong, competitive, and a leader. Bridget has gained great racing experience during her time at Shrewsbury that will be invaluable when she comes to Mason. I see her being a strong rower at Mason and fitting right in."

Dillard adds this about the founding members of next year's freshman class, "Madison and Bridget are two top-level recruits. They will be great additions to our rowing program and are a strong start to our recruiting class of 2013. They both have the ability to come in and make an impact right away."
