It was a long weekend for a Lindsay Gray and Meredith Cutchin of the Mason women's tennis team. They played Saturday in the regional I.T.A. event held at the University of Pennsylvania then returned home Sunday in time to play in the conference match against Hofstra. Despite their efforts Mason dropped a 2-5 decision for the first team loss of the season.
"This was a tough way to end our fall season. I was proud of the way we played in our doubles today but we could have performed better in singles" Curtis said. "We couldn't maintain the momentum from the doubles."
Mason started the match by winning all three doubles to secure the first point. Gray/Cutchin defeated the number one duo of Gattelaro/Kent 8-5; Blackwell/Van Zandt won 9-7 over Downing/Sailer; and Blisk/Longueira were victorious 8-4 over Taylor/Sharifi.
Meredith Cutchin was the only Patriot to win a point in singles as she defeated Tracy Ferrer 6-2, 6-1 in the number five spot. Mason's number one, Lindsay Gray lost 1-6, 1-6 to Zoe Taylor while freshman Brooke Blackwell lost a battle to Christie Gattelaro 6-7, 6-1 at two.
