RICHMOND, Va. - After successful performances this past weekend at George Mason's swimming and diving conference opener against Delaware, three Patriots were honored Tuesday by the Colonial Athletic Association as winners of its weekly awards. Freshman Bryan Bahr and sophomore Lisa Faulkner were tabbed the CAA Men's and Women's Divers of the Week, while freshman Ashley Danner earned Co-Women's Swimmer of the Week plaudits.
Bahr swept the diving events on the men's side in the loss to the Blue Hens, as he won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives with scores of 282.30 and 327.23, respectively. Faulkner scored a first-place finish off the boards with a 275.78 mark in the 3-meter dive and finished second in the 1-meter with a 251.33 score.
Danner shattered two school records en route to three first-place times on Saturday afternoon. In her first time competing for the Green and Gold individually, Danner swam the 100-meter breaststroke and touched the wall in 1:02.71, topping the previous school mark by over a second. In the 200-meter breaststroke, Danner's winning time of 2:15.95 was nearly a second faster than the prior mark. She also claimed first place in the 200-meter individual medley, finishing in 2:04.64.
Last season, the Patriot men and women combined for three weekly conference awards.
The Patriots return to action from October 31-November 1 when they host the CAA Pod Meet at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
