Mason went four for nine on the day in singles action at the Sergio Tacchini Invitational at Old Dominion. Arjun Sanghvi went 2-0 on the day and was the only Patriot to see semi-final berth in the singles division. Brian Fitzgerald, Zack Schneider and Imran Nayeem to play consolation matches today.

Sanghvi played phenomenal winning in 6-4, 6-1 in the first match. His second was much more hard fought and gave insight into his game. He used the slice effectively to dictate the pace and placement of his opponent. After taking the first set of his second match 6-2, he began to struggle. After 12 games in the second set it was tied six all and was forced to a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker Sanghvi showed his game and exerted his dominance over the ball with his slice winning in the tiebreaker to take the second set and the match 7-6 (8-6).

Jordan Lipstock and Lee Wexler were the only players in action today that ended their tournament today as they both won their first matches and lost their second match eliminating them for contention of the championship and consolation draw. Wexler was the first one to win on the day 6-4, 6-3. His second game he struggled to compensate for the wind and found shots difficult to keep in. After losing 6-3 in the first set, his second set was much of the same and lost the match 6-0.

Lipstock showed a great and complete game in the first match. The first set was won 6-4, but he did it in a calm fashion. He used his great slice to pinpoint the ball anywhere on the court and showed great decision making mixing up his powerful forehand with the slice. The second set was the much of the same, but saw more difficulty taking it into 12 games, winning 7-5. The second match he lost the first set 5-7 and could not recover dropping the second set and the match 6-2.

Brian Fitzgerald, Zack Schneider, and Imran Nayeem all lost in their first match and all have consolation matches on the final day. Dan Schneider competed in the first day, but later that day found out he had strep and was forced to withdraw from the tournament.
