The George Mason women's tennis team opened their spring season today with a loss to Campbell at the Thalhimer Tennis Center in the VCU 4x1 Invitational. The Patriots had five freshmen and a lone senior compete and lost 5-0 to a Campbell team that doesn't list one freshman on their roster.
Freshman Lindsay Gray lost to senior Scarlett Alfonzo, 6-1, 6-3 in the top singles position. Campbell's sophomore Blanca Saenz defeated freshman Stacey Berlinger, 6-2, 6-0 from the #2 position. The lone senior Julie Moscato was defeated 6-0, 6-1 in the #3 singles position. In the fourth and final singles spot, the Patriots Aryn Christman was defeated 6-1, 6-0 by junior Tanya Ahuja.
In the only doubles match, the Camels Ana Surviladze and Nina Surviladze defeated Stephanie Longueira and Sarah Dieffenbach from Mason, 6-0, 6-0.
The Patriots take on VCU, a team that is unbeaten in four contests this season, Sunday at 11 am.
