RICHMOND, Va. - Fresh off a dominating performance in which he captured both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive competitions in Saturday's team victory at Towson, junior Ryan Metzker was rewarded with two weekly awards. Metzker was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Male Diver of the Week on Tuesday, and was tabbed the ECAC Diver of the Week on Thursday. Metzker picks up the CAA award for the second time this season, and the seventh time of his career.
Metzker swept the men's diving events on Saturday in the Patriots' 187-108 win over Towson with scores of 302.92 and 305.25 in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, respectively. He has now claimed first place in four events this season, winning against Delaware and in the Patriot Invitational. Last season, he earned the weekly honor three times, and was tabbed once in his freshman campaign.
The Springfield, Va., native is the reigning CAA champion in the 1-meter dive with a score of 313.00, and placed third at the conference championships in February with a 295.60 score in the 3-meter dive.
The Patriots will be back in action on January 26 when they host American, Army and CAA foe Old Dominion at 12 p.m. at the Jim McKay Natatorium.
