The men's golf team is adjusting to new teammates, tougher competition and new courses and it showed in the first round of the Shoot-Out at Angel Park Saturday in Las Vegas, NV. The Patriots are in 17th place after shooting (315-304+619) at the par 71, 6,722-yard Angel Park Country Club.
Mason was led by newcomer Andrew Maryan, who shot a two-round 152 (78-74) and is currently tied for 57th individually. Senior J.J. Amoruso was consistent shooting 77 each round and is tied for 66th. The remaining scores include Clark Bixler (82-74+156), Marshall Tinsley (79-79+158) and Tyler Frank (81-79=160).
UNLV B leads the tournament at three-under-par. They are followed by Cal State Northridge (+4), San Jose State (+12) and Southern Utah and UNLV A (+19).
Sueng-su Han of UNLV B leads individually at six-under-par. Brandon Crick of Gonzaga and Jed Dirksen of Arizona State (-4) are tied for second with Southern Utah's Tim Hawkins and Jarred Texter of UNLV B (-3) tied for fourth.
The shoot-out continues Sunday with the final round at Angel Park Country Club.
