George Mason's men's and women's cross country teams will host the Mason Invitational this Saturday at Bull Run Regional Park in Manassas, Va. The meet will begin with the women's 6k slated for a 10 a.m. start time, while the men's 8k will get underway at 10:45 a.m.
Both of the Patriots' cross country squads have participated in two meets heading into this weekend's action. The men's team opened up its season with a fifth-place finish at the Lou Onesty Invitational on Sept. 8 and a ninth-place finish at the Navy Invitational the following weekend. The women's team has opened up the 2007 campaign with two consecutive top-five finishes, placing fifth at the Towson Invitational on Sept. 8 and fourth at the JMU Invitational on Sept. 15.
Sophomore Robert Krause ran the top time for the men's team this season, clocking in at 25:28.00 at the Navy Invitational. For the women's team, senior Melissa Ferry currently has the team's top time, crossing the finish line in 20:24.00 at the Towson Invitational.
Both the men's and women's teams from American, Campbell, Charlotte, George Washington, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Navy, Trinity, UNC Wilmington and the University at Albany will join the Patriots at this Saturday's meet.
