Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason Women's Tennis team earned a win Friday afternoon in their first team match of the season. The Lady Patriots traveled to Shepherd University and brought home a 7-2 victory after defeating the Rams.
Stacey Berlinger, Julia Moscato and Alex LaCoste each earned victories in singles and doubles. Berlinger and Moscato paired in doubles to defeat Shepherd's Bickerton and Scragg, 8-4. LaCoste and partner Cat Crisostomo took down Clarke and Robertson, 8-5. Mason also took home victories in the No. 2 through No. 6 spots in singles competition. Sarah Dieffenbach came out on top in the No. 3 spot over Scaggs, 6-2, 6-4 and Aryn Christman defeated Bickerton at the No. 5 spot, 6-3, 6-2.
The Lady Patriots will host the Mason Invitational next weekend. Attending schools include: Georgetown, George Washington, Mary Washington, Towson, St. Francis (Pa.), Virginia State and the District of Columbia.
