Nick DeSimone of Sykesville, Md. qualified for the 2007 U.S. Amateur Championship after he shot a one-under par two-round 141 at the Country Club of Fairfax at a sectional qualifier held on August 7th and 8th. The U.S. Amateur, the oldest USGA Championship, will be played from Aug. 20-26 at Olympic Club in San Francisco, Calif.

The Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association, 10 of which are strictly for amateurs. The event, which has no age restriction, is open to anyone with a Handicap Index of 2.4 or lower.
Michael Kirby was the most recent George Mason golfer before DeSimone to play in the U.S. Amateur in 2005.
