George Mason shortstop Brent Weiss and centerfielder Spencer Wiggins are two of the many George Mason players participating in summer league baseball but the pair made themselves stand out this week as they were selected to their respective league's All-Star games.

Weiss, playing for the Wilmington Stars, was selected to the Coastal Plains All-Star game. Wiggins, a member of the Haymarket Senators, played in the Valley League All-Star contest. Wiggins also won the 60-yard dash competition, which along with the home run hitting contest, was held prior to the game.

Weiss was one of two players selected from the Stars. He is hitting .256 with a .340 on-base percentage and he is 4 for 5 in stolen bases. He is hitting 30 points higher than the team batting average and he is also hitting better than the league average.

Wiggins has played in 26 games and leads his team with 25 runs, 19 walks and he is 13 of 14 in stolen bases on the season.

Spencer Wiggins was selected to the Valley League All-Star game and he won the league's 60-yard dash.

While Weiss, Wiggins and a handful of other Patriots stay sharp this summer with an eye on the 2008 season, several former Patriots continue to grind away in the minor leagues.

In the Arizona League, J.J. Pannell has made four relief appearances this year, pitching four and one-third innings. He has allowed two runs and eight hits while striking out six and walking none for the Arizona League Giants. In the New York-Penn League, Chris Fournier missed several weeks of action due to a shoulder injury. He's appeared in just two games with a hit and a walk for the Brooklyn Cyclones.

In the South Atlantic League, Robby Jacobsen, playing for the Hagerstown Suns, has rebounded from a slow start. He's hitting .221 with three doubles, two homers, 11 RBI and four steals in 21 games. He's 9 for his past 27 and all four of his steals have come in the past 10 games.

Currently enjoying the most success in the minors is Jason Bour. The former Mason catcher is hitting .295 with three doubles, a homer and eight RBI in 12 games for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer League. Bour has a .340 on-base percentage and a .772 OPS. In his past 10 games he's hitting .324 with a homer, six runs and six RBI.
