SACRAMENTO, Calif. - As a result of a leg injury suffered on the opening day of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Wednesday, sophomore Murielle Ahoure (Bristow, Va./Hayfield Secondary), the NCAA East Regional Champion in the 100-meter dash, was unable to compete in the 200-meter dash on the second day of the championships on Thursday afternoon at Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex in Sacramento, Calif.

On Wednesday, Ahoure ran in the first round of the 100-meter dash, placing third in her heat with a time of 11.34 seconds to automatically qualify for the semifinals of the event. In the semifinals, Ahoure suffered a leg injury that slowed her as she neared the finish line, causing her to run a time of 11.93 seconds, which fell short of qualifying for the finals of the event.

In addition to the 100-meter dash, Ahoure also qualified for the 200-meter dash, which was scheduled to begin at 3:50 p.m. PT (6:50 p.m. ET) on Thursday. However, she was forced to scratch due to her injured leg.

The four-day NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships conclude on Saturday at Alex G. Spanos Sports Complex.
