George Mason's women's rowing coach Geoff Dillard has been invited to coach this summer at the Mid-Atlantic Region US Rowing Senior Women's Development Camp hosted by Thompson Boat Center in Washington, DC.
Dillard will be coaching high caliber athletes, both collegiate and post-collegiate, that are looking to develop their skills and physical ability in preparation for U23 Trails and Senior National Team competition. In addition, the camp will provide a racing opportunity for women who train with the national team, but do not make the team.
The select team will prepare to compete at the US Nationals in mid-July, the 125th Royal Canadian Henley Regatta from August 7-12 in St. Catharine, Ontario and the U23 Trials. Thompson Boat Center has been consistently successful at these regattas, with many medal-level finishes and 3 National Championships. In a short amount of time, Thompson Boat Center have promoted women on to the next level of competition, highlighted by 2005 team member Kerry Birk's world championship in the 2006 U23.
Coach Dillard is coming off his third season at the helm of the women's rowing program and arguably it's most successful, having won the school's first rowing CAA Championship.
