GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Sophomore sprinter Murielle Ahoure earned a pair of second-place finishes at the Pepsi Florida Relays, held at Percy Beard Track in Gainesville, Fla. Ahoure finished second in both the 100- and 200-meter dash at the meet, posting times lower than the NCAA East Regional qualifying standard in both events.

The sophomore finished second to Tennessee's Courtney Champion in the 100-meter dash. Ahoure crossed the finish line in 11.73 seconds, while Champion ran a time of 11.59 seconds. Ahoure also ran in the 200-meter dash for the first time during this year's outdoor season, placing second with a time of 23.61 seconds. The time qualifies her for the NCAA East Regional Championships in the 200-meter dash. She has already qualified for the regional meet in the 100-meter dash.

Like Ahoure, freshman Tiara Swindell also ran in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 15th place with a time of 24.79 seconds. The time is the second best of her career in the event during the outdoor season, behind her time of 24.51 seconds at the Hurricane Invitational on March 17. Swindell also ran in the 400-meter dash at the meet, finishing in 56.82 seconds.

A pair of distance runners both reached personal bests at the meet in the 1500-meter run. Amy Yocum finished 15th with a time of 4:42.68, while Alicia York finished 25th with a time of 4:53.84. Freshman Asia Odum also achieved a personal best in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.56 seconds.

George Mason's women's track and field team will take next weekend off before competing at the CAA Championships in Harrisonburg, Va. on April 20-21.
