FAIRFAX, Va. - Despite a career-high five points from freshman attacker Megan Udovich, George Mason (5-5, 0-2 CAA) lost its second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association contest, falling to the Towson Tigers (4-6, 1-2 CAA) by a final score of 19-13 on Sunday afternoon at George Mason Stadium.

The first period of play was a back-and-forth battle featuring five ties and five lead changes. Trailing by two goals at 7-5, Mason finally seized control of the lead at the end of the period, going on a four-goal run over the last 5:52 of play to take a 9-7 lead into the half. Udovich began the run with a free-position goal with 5:52 left in the period and senior Melissa Venturi, junior Laura King and freshman Kelly Davis also found the back of the net.

Towson opened up the second period with two goals within 48 seconds to tie the score at nine. Junior Ali Alati scored with 27:58 left in the game and sophomore Hillary Fratzke followed up with a goal at 27:10 to tie the game. King answered with a free-position goal at the 25:02 mark to put Mason back in the lead, but Towson sophomore Meggie McNamara tied the game again with a goal at 24:44 off a pass from Lauren McAfee. Sophomore attacker Brittany Berger put the Patriots back on top by a goal at 11-10 with her second goal of the day three minutes later.

The lead turned out to be Mason's last of the day, as Towson scored the next six goals and nine of the final 11 to win by a final score of 19-13. McNamara did most of the damage for the Tigers, scoring four of her six goals in the final 12:31 of the game.

Udovich led the Patriots with four goals and an assist for five points. Goalkeeper Sara Longobucco started and played 50:57 in net, recording a team-high five ground balls, while redshirt junior Alex Velesz and senior Jess Shelton both caused two turnovers.

Three players combined to score 14 of the Tigers' 19 goals in the game. McNamara had a game-high six, freshman Nikki Marcinik tallied four and Fratzke chipped in four. Fratzke also had two assists for a total of six points and two caused turnovers in the game. Junior goalkeeper Mandy Corry played all 60 minutes, recording 11 saves, six ground balls and a caused turnover in the win.

George Mason hits the road for its next game, taking on the Hofstra Pride on Friday, April 13 in a 7 p.m. Colonial Athletic Association game in Hempstead, N.Y.
