Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's softball team (12-24, 0-8 CAA) was swept by James Madison (21-14, 5-3) in a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader Saturday afternoon at George Mason Field. The Patriots dropped the first decision by a score of 10-2 and then lost the second contest, 10-1.

In the first game, sophomore Ali Bryan scored Mason's first run in the bottom of the first after freshman Becky Anderson connected on a double to left field. The second run for the Patriots was put on the scoreboard in the third after junior Lesley Hassen, who had a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, smacked a single to right field to bring junior Kristen Dickel home. The Dukes took the lead in the third inning after scoring three runs, and added to its total with two in the fourth, four in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Anderson earned the loss for the Patriots as she gave up nine runs, seven earned, off of 11 hits in 4.2 innings of work, while teammate sophomore Rachel Hastings gave up one run off of three hits. The Dukes Jenny Clohan improved her record to 8-6 in the circle as she gave up two earned runs off of six hits, while striking out six of the 27 batters she faced.

The second game was scoreless heading into the fourth inning, but JMU scored five runs that inning and then tacked on two more runs in the fifth and three in the top of the sixth. Mason's lone run came in the bottom of the sixth after Anderson, who collected two hits in the game, connected on a double to center field, which brought home sophomore Dee Murray, who reached on a walk.

Sophomore Arielle Weinkofsky's record in the circle dropped to 3-9 on the year as she gave up seven runs off of six hits, while striking out three of the 26 batters she faced. Meredith Felts earned the win for the Dukes as she only allowed one run, off of three hits in six innings of work.

The Patriots and Dukes will wrap-up their three-game series on Sunday, April 8 at 12 p.m. at George Mason Field.
