Fairfax, Va.--Freshman pitcher Becky Anderson (Oakton, Va.) earned Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors for her efforts this past week as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Anderson helped the Patriots win their first CAA series of the season with a pair of victories over Delaware, including a 6-3 win on April 28 and a 9-0 shutout victory the proceeding day. The freshman finished the week hitting .308 and earned a 1-2 record in the circle, along with a save, during four appearances. Anderson finished the week pitching 19.1 innings, while giving up four earned runs and fanning nine batters. Anderson tossed five shutout innings and only allowed three hits in Mason's nine run win against the Blue Hens. Offensively, the rookie recorded four hits and four RBI on the week for the Patriots.
The Patriots will wrap-up their conference regular season this weekend when they host Drexel for a three-game series, including a doubleheader on May 5 at noon.
