NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (April 19, 2007) - George Mason's top women's tennis player senior Maricel Ballester earned All-CAA Third team honors for her performances in singles action this season. The award marks the second straight year she has received the All-CAA third team honor. Ballester finished with an 8-10 overall record, including a 2-2 record in matches against CAA opponents. The Lima, Peru native, played all of her matches from the No. 1 position. She finishes her four-year career with a 49-41 overall singles record, all from the top two singles positions.
The awards were presented this evening prior to the quarterfinals of the 2007 CAA Women's Tennis Championship, which resumes Friday at the Huntington Park Tennis Center in Newport News. The tournament runs through Sunday, with the women's championship match set for 10:00 a.m. on April 22.
