CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -
In their final meet before the CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, George Mason's men's track and field team traveled to Charlottesville, Va. to compete in the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational at Lannigan Field on the campus of the University of Virginia. Three Patriots finished in the top five of their respective events at the meet.
Sophomore Mutsa Nyakabau finished in fifth place in the 400-meter dash, running a time of 49.79 seconds. An unattached athlete, Antony Campbell of Zenith Velocity, won the event with a time of 48.53 seconds.
In the 1500-meter run, junior Kris Cruz crossed the finish line in 4:01.15 to take fifth place in the event. Donnie Cowart-Mikels placed first in the event with a time of 3:57.15.
Also finishing in fifth place was junior Michael Wade. Competing in the triple jump, Wade leapt 13.64 meters (44 ft. 9 in.) to place fifth in the event.
Freshman Michael Pachella competed at a different meet, the Mt. Sac Relays, running the 800 meters. Pachella registered a personal record time during the outdoor season of 1:51.24 to finish in ninth place. The Ogdensburg, N.J. native has already qualified for the IC4A Outdoor Championships in the event.
The men's track and field team will compete again at the CAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Harrisonburg, Va. on April 20-21.
