Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason women's tennis team won their second match in a row as they downed Mt. St. Mary's by a score of 5-2. The Lady netters now garner a 4-9 overall record as the face off against UMBC on Sunday at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts.
In doubles play on Saturday, Julie Moscato and Alicia Van Zandt won a nail biter, 9-7. Their win was followed up with a 8-6 win by the No. 3 doubles team of Meridith Cutchin and Jen Kramer. In singles play, the No. 1 position player Maricel Ballester, won her second match in a row, as she defeated Katie Muething, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. Also winning their second matches in a row were Moscato, Cutchin and Ellen Mathis, each of whom won in two sets. Van Zandt fell in a three set battle to Ashley Wentzl, 2-6, 6-3, 5-7.
The Lady Netters will look to extend their winning streak to three as they host UMBC Sunday.
