Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason Women's Tennis team took on Radford at home Sunday afternoon on the Robinson Field Tennis Courts. The Lady Netters fell to a good Radford team by a score of 1-6.
The lone point for the Lady Netters came from the No. 1 position in singles, as Maricel Ballester defeated Daniela Milano, 1-6, 6-2, 10-4. The win is Maricel's second on the season as she continues to lead a team still in the process of building experience for its young players. Meredith Cutchin also played a three set singles match, but fell to Cassandra Price, 1-6, 6-4, 6-10. In the three doubles matches, no Lady Netter pair lost by more than three points. At the No. 1 position, Ballester and Alex LaCoste were defeated 8-6. At the No. 2 position, Julia Moscato and Alicia Van Zandt lost by a score of 8-5. And rounding out doubles play, at the No. 3 position, Cutchin and Jen Kramer lost a very tight match, 9-7.
The Lady Netters will be back in action Tuesday, along with the men's team, as they compete in a dual match with Coppin State. The men will begin at 1 p.m. with the women following at approximately 3 pm. at the Robinson Field Tennis Courts.
