FAIRFAX, Va. - After winning both of its games last week, the George Mason women's lacrosse team (3-2) will attempt to win its third consecutive contest when it takes on the No. 9 team in the country according to the latest IWLCA poll, the Georgetown Hoyas (3-2), on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at George Mason Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 7, but was rescheduled due to unplayable field conditions at George Mason Stadium due to excess snowfall in the area. Two weeks ago, the Patriots would have entered the contest with a 1-2 record and reeling from a tough loss on the road at Virginia Tech. Now, Mason is on a hot streak, having won its last two games and sweeping the CAA Weekly Awards when they were handed out this week. Junior attacker Laura King (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) was named the conference's Player of the Week on Monday, while freshman midfielder Kelly Davis (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) earned the conference's Rookie of the Week honor for the second time this season. Those two players combined for 16 of the Patriots' 31 goals in their victories against St. Bonaventure and Boston University last week.

King had nine goals last week to pace the Patriots. In Mason's 18-10 rout of St. Bonaventure at George Mason Stadium on March 13, the junior matched career highs with six goals, two assists, eight points and four ground balls. She also was a force on the defensive end of the field, causing two turnovers. She followed up that remarkable performance by closing out the week with three goals on five shots along with two ground balls in the Patriots' 13-8 win against Boston University on March 17.

Davis, who also earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors on March 6, scored seven goals in George Mason's two games last week. Against Boston University, the freshman set a new career high in points with six, matched her career high with five goals and also registered an assist and two caused turnovers. Earlier in the week, Davis tallied two goals and an assist in Mason's victory against St. Bonaventure.

Both King and Davis have performed at a high level all season long for the Patriots, ranking 1-2 on the team in several statistical categories. They are tied for the team lead in points (18), King leads the team in goals (16) with Davis a close second (15), and Davis leads the team in shooting percentage (.577) with King right behind in second (.571). In addition, Davis leads the team in game-winning goals (2) and is second on the team in free-position goals (3), while King is second on the team in caused turnovers (8).

George Mason will be playing a Georgetown team that lost its last contest at home on March 18 to then-No. 4 Duke by a goal, 12-11. Wednesday's contest will be the first time the Hoyas have played a road game all season.

Two Hoyas - Coco Stanwick and Brittany Baschuk - were named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the league office on Monday. Stanwick, who leads the Hoyas with 18 goals and eight assists this season, continued her stellar play last week totaling three goals, five assists, two ground balls and 12 draw controls. Stanwick posted a career-high five assists in the Hoyas' 16-13 win against then-No.12 Johns Hopkins.

Baschuk tallied eight points on six goals and two assists during last week's action. Baschuk posted a career-high four goals to go along with an assist in GU's win against Johns Hopkins. Baschuk then scored twice in the loss to Duke, including a free-position goal with 16 seconds left that gave the Hoyas a chance. Baschuk has eight goals in the last three games.

Tickets to Wednesday's game will cost $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. All full-time enrolled students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
