BOSTON, Mass. -
George Mason's men's and women's track and field teams begin the indoor championship season this weekend with the men competing at the IC4A Championships and the women competing in the ECAC Championships. Both meets will take place on Saturday and Sunday in Boston, Mass.
The men's team has qualified for the IC4A Championships in eight different events. Freshman Marcus Wyche will compete in the 400-meter dash, while fellow freshman Michael Pachella will compete in both the 800-meter run and 1000-meter run. Junior Brian Hay will run the 55-meter hurdles, junior Michael Wade will compete in the long jump and senior Ryan McCoy will compete in the triple jump. The Patriots have also qualified in both the 4x800-meter relay and the distance medley relay.
The women will compete in five events at the ECAC Championships - the 60-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, long jump and triple jump. Murielle Ahoure qualified in both the 60-meter dash and 200-meter dash, Tiara Swindell qualified in both the 200-meter dash and the 400-meter dash and Ryann Hendricks qualified in both the long jump and the triple jump.
The IC4A Championships will begin at noon on Saturday at the Track and Field Pavilion on the campus of Boston University, while the ECAC Championships will start at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
