The George Mason women's lacrosse team will play its second of three consecutive home dates when Boston University visits George Mason Stadium tomorrow in a game scheduled for a 12 p.m. start. The Patriots enter Saturday's contest with a 2-2 record on the season.
In their last game, the Patriots routed St. Bonaventure, scoring 14 goals in the first period on their way to an 18-10 victory. Junior Laura King, who leads the team in points (15) and goals (13) on the season, matched a career high with six goals in the game.
After losing its first game of the year, Boston University has bounced back with two straight wins, downing Loyola (Md.) 14-10 in its last game on March 14 in Baltimore, Md. The Terriers, whose leading scorers are Sarah Dalton and Lauren Morton with 10 goals each, are listed in the others receiving votes category in the latest IWLCA poll. BU entered the season ranked 17th in the poll.
Former George Mason standout Liz Robertshaw is in her first season as the head coach at BU. After a stellar playing career, she began her coaching career at Mason, working as an assistant coach from 1998-1999. As a player, Robertshaw earned USWLA All-America recognition in both her junior and senior seasons and STX/IWLCA All-America recognition in her senior year, becoming the first George Mason women's lacrosse player to earn All-America distinction. During her career, Robertshaw was a two-time captain and totaled 90 caused turnovers, ranking fifth all-time in school history. Robertshaw was also a four-time all-conference selection and was awarded the Aimee Willard Award as the best collegiate player at the US Lacrosse National Tournament in 1998.
Tickets to Saturday's game will cost $5 for adults and $2 for youth and senior citizens. All full-time enrolled students will be admitted free with a valid student ID.
