The George Mason golf team began their Spring Championship season at the Argonaut Invitational in Pensacola, Fla. and currently stand in 14th place after two rounds. The third and final round will be played Tuesday morning at the par 72, 6,815 yard Pensacola Country Club.
Dan Hurley and Nick DeSimone lead the Patriots after each carded a 151 two-round total. Hurley shot a one-over par 73 in the first round, but followed up with a 78 in the second round. DeSimone recorded opposite scores, shooting a 78 in the morning and rebounding with a 73 in the afternoon round. Freshman Justin Wingo recorded a 83-77=160 for the Patriots and Trey Bressler (83-78=161) and J.J. Amoruso (84-82=166) rounded out the scoring.
Fellow Colonial Athletic Association schools are in first and second going into the final round with Old Dominion currently holding a three stroke lead over VCU. Mason stands ahead of CAA foes Towson (313-313=626) and behind James Madison (303-306=609).
