Orlando, Fla.--George Mason University's softball team (0-4) came up short in both of its games at the Central Florida Tournament in Orlando, Fla. Saturday afternoon. The Patriots dropped a 6-0 decision to Albany in the first contest and then fell by a score of 4-0 to host-school, UCF.
In the opening game against Albany, freshman Becky Anderson was 2-for-3 at the plate. Anderson connected on her first hit as a Patriot with a single in the second inning and collected another single in the top of the sixth. Dee Murray also went 2-for-3 against Albany as she tallied two singles.
Anderson pitched five innings for the Patriots in the first game and gave up six runs, two earned, off of six hits, while walking three of the 25 batters she faced. Paige Krystofinski relieved Anderson in the sixth and faced three batters, all of whom grounded out.
Against UCF, sophomore Kelsey Mack had a 2-for-3 showing at the plate, both of which were singles. Juniors Amanda Bach and Katlyn Winter, as well as sophomore Paige Miller all connected on one hit in the second game of the day.
Junior Arielle Weinkofsky was on the mound five innings for the Patriots and gave up three runs, two earned, off of six hits, while walking one and striking out one of the 24 batters she faced. Krystofinsky pitched the remaining two innings for Mason and gave up one unearned run off of four hits.
The Patriots will play in its last game at the UCF Tournament at 11 a.m. on Feb. 25 against Alabama State.
