Fresh off beating the #1 team in the country, George Mason sophomore Mike Modica earned one of the Colonial Athletic Association's top honors as the lefthander was named CAA Pitcher of the Week.
Modica earned what head coach Bill Brown called "the biggest win in school history," allowing just one hit and one earned run in six innings at Clemson. The Tigers had a 17-game home winning streak snapped as they managed just two hits in the contest. Modica struck out three while throwing 83 pitches. It's the first conference award for Modica.
The Patriots return to action on Friday when they play at College of Charleston at 5 p.m. The Patriots take on Charleston Southern on Saturday and face College of Charleston again on Sunday.
