Kelly Named CAA Female Swimmer of the Week

Men's Team Now in Third at CAA Championships; Women's in Fourth

Fairfax, Va.--William & Mary's women's swimming & diving team continues to lead at the CAA Championships with a point total of 418, while UNC Wilmington pushed ahead on the men's side and now stands first with 385 points. The Patriots' women's squad is fourth after three days of competition (358.5), while the men's team stands at third (359), less than 30 points behind the leader.

The Tribe's women's team captured three gold medals on Friday, including a record setting performance by Katie Radloff in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:48.30 for a new CAA record performance and a new meet record. Courtney Alles won the 400 IM (4:26.98) and her teammate Kelly Reitz won the 100 breast event (1:03.77). Aly Hunt of Towson place first in the 100 backstroke (56.70), while Kate Hynes (Drexel) set a new CAA meet record in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 309.85.

For Mason's women's team, Katie Kelly collected 17 points for the Patriots as she placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.21, while Caitlin Impink finished fourth in the 200 free (1:52.24) to add 15 points for Mason. Colleen Flack earned a silver medal in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 274.85, while Amanda Fielding rounded out the top-3 with 264.75 points.

On the men's side, James Madison won three events on the day, including a first place performance by Brian Freitag in the 400 IM (3:57.95). Russell Smith placed first in the 100 breast (57.10) for the Dukes, while teammate Josh Fowler took home the gold for the 100 backstroke (49.72). Tom Koucheravy (Mason) won the 200 free as he posted a time of 1:38.56, while Eric Pinno of Towson placed first in the 100 fly (49.35). For Mason, Joe Houchin earned the silver medal in the 400 IM with a time of 3:58.99, while Eric Knight placed third in the 100 breast (57.23).

The final day of competition is Feb. 17 and will begin at 10 a.m. with preliminary action, while finals begin at 6 p.m. at the Aquatic & Fitness Center on the campus of George Mason.
