BOSTON - Earlier in the season at the Virginia Tech Invitational, sophomore Murielle Ahoure tied a 25-year old school record in the 55-meter dash and set a new facility record at Virginia Tech's Rector Field House. The Bristow Va. native continued her record-setting indoor season on Saturday at the St. Valentine's Invitational in Boston, Mass., setting a new facility record at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center in the 200-meter dash.

With a first-place time of 23.60 seconds, Ahoure shattered the previous facility record set in 2003 by Tasha Downing by 28-hundredths of a second. In addition to setting a new facility record, the time provisionally qualifies Ahoure for the NCAA Indoor Championships and ranks as the second-best in George Mason history in the 200-meter dash during the indoor season. Cydonie Mothersill holds the record with a time of 23.17 seconds, set in 1999. Along with her record-setting performance in the 200-meter dash, Ahoure also ran in the 55-meter dash, finishing first in the finals with a time of 6.97 seconds.

Freshman Tiara Swindell, a native of Hampton, Va., also ran well in the 200-meter dash, setting a new personal best in the event with a time of 25.09 seconds. Her previous best was 25.13 seconds set at last weekend's New Balance Collegiate Invitational.

In the field events, sophomore Ryann Hendricks finished in seventh-place in the long jump with a leap of 5.37 meters (17 ft. 7.5 in.). Bridgette Ingram won the event with a mark of 6.08 meters (19 ft. 11.5 in.).

George Mason's women's track and field team will travel to Blacksburg, Va. next weekend to compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational at Rector Field House.
