FAIRFAX, Va. - George Mason (9-9) dropped a nonconference wrestling meet to North Carolina State (11-7) by the final score of 30-13 on Senior Night at John Linn Memorial Gym on Saturday evening.

The meet started off well for Mason when freshman Brian Wright scored a 13-5 major decision victory against N.C. State redshirt freshman Taylor Cummings at the 125-pound weight class. However, the Wolfpack quickly rebounded from the four-point deficit, winning the next five matches to take a commanding 23-4 lead in the team scoring.

Junior Randy Oates got the Patriots back on the board with a 4-0 decision against N.C. State junior Randy Goodman at 174 pounds. Redshirt junior Harry Zander picked up Mason's only other victory, with a win by forfeit at 197 pounds.

George Mason's four senior wrestlers - David Emison, Robert Henry, Ryan Kittrick and Jim Martin - were honored in a ceremony prior to the start of the meet.

The Patriots will hit the mat again on Saturday, Feb. 17 when they face the Maryland Terrapins in College Park, Md. at 1 p.m. in the final dual meet of the season prior to the CAA Championships, which will take place at George Mason's John Linn Memorial Gym on March 2-3.
