Senior MacGregor Lennarz of the George Mason men's track and field team was recently honored by the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS) among the first batch of recipients of the Dean's Challenge Award. Students must be challenging themselves academically and taking true advantage of all the opportunities George Mason has to offer to receive the award.
Lennarz has been a key member of the men's track and field program during his three years on the team, earning All-CAA honors in the 4x400-meter relay during last year's outdoor season. In addition to his athletic accomplishments, the Goochland, Va. native has also set himself apart as a student leader, a civic activist and a mentor. An honors student, Lennarz is majoring in public and international affairs at George Mason.
Faculty members from each academic unit within the college were encouraged to nominate two students continuing their studies through the spring semester of the 2007-08 academic year. The scholarships were awarded during the last week of October. The winners, in alphabetical order are:
