UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Facing its toughest competition of the season thus far, the George Mason men's cross country team finished in 11th place with 270 team points at the Penn State National Invitational, held at the Blue and White Golf Course in University Park, Pa. on Friday morning. The meet featured a total of 12 regionally-ranked NCAA Division I teams, including the Patriots, who entered the meet ranked 13th in the latest USTFCCCA Southeast Region Poll.

Sophomore Robert Krause paced the Patriots yet again, finishing 23rd with a time of 26:52 on the 5.2-mile course. Senior John Crain was the second member of Mason's team to cross the finish line, placing 50th with a time of 27:18. Following Crain was senior Kris Cruz (62nd, 27:28), sophomore Andrew Holloway (67th, 27:30), sophomore Travis Boccher (80th, 27:39), sophomore James Snyder (90th, 27:49) and senior Ryan Davis (95th, 27:54).

Running unattached, Marcharia Yuot finished in first place with a time of 26:13. Kentucky senior Andre Silva was right on Yuot's heels, crossing the finish line second, clocking in with a time of 26:16.

In the team scoring, La Salle finished first with a total of 62 points. Oklahoma was second with 89 points and host Penn State rounded out the top-three with 120 points.

George Mason will run again on Friday, Oct. 26 at the CAA Championships at Bethpage State Park in Farmingdale, N.Y. George Mason finished in third place at last year's conference championship meet, which was the team's best finish since 1997.
