Fairfax, Va. - The George Mason Women's tennis team wrapped up competition in the 3-2 Mason Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. After going 5-5 on the first day of the tournament, the Lady Netters finished the last two days with a record of 5-8.
Aryn Christman earned a 2-1 record in the last two days of the tournament during singles competition as she defeated Roxy Ionescu of St. Francis, 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 and Michele Style of George Washington 6-1, 5-7, 10-6, while falling to Caroline Kuehn of Georgetown 6-0, 6-0. Also earning singles victories on Saturday and Sunday were Ellen Mathis and Cat Crisostomo. Mathis defeated St. Francis' Julianna Gustafson, 6-2, 6-0 and Crisostomo was victorious over Ashley Zalewski, also from St. Francis, 6-0, 6-2. The Lady Netters also recorded a doubles victory as Nora Hetrick and Sidney Cooper defeated the doubles team of Eva Keresztes and Danielle Gauther of St. Francis, 6-0, 6-0.
The women's tennis team will be in action again on October 12-14, as they travel to Newport News, Va. to compete in the Collegiate Invitational.
