Fairfax, Va. (August 7, 2006)-- George Mason Athletic Director Tom O'Connor announced today that Paul Bowden has accepted the position of director of compliance in the athletic department.

The Hampton, Va. native has been working in the compliance office for the past four years for Hampton University, with the final two as the director. As the director he also supervised the athletic training, academic support and Life Skills staffs. He currently is Co-Chair of the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference Compliance Committee.

Bowden received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Hampton in 1991. After graduation he spent three years as a caseworker for The Choice Program, mentoring at-risk youth. Prior to returning to his alma mater, he worked at T. Rowe Price Investment Technologies as a business systems analyst.
