George Mason students are all back and the rite of summer ending and a new school year beginning is celebrated during Welcome Week on campus. The athletic department is sponsoring events as part of Patriot Spirit Day, from 11-3 p.m. on Wednesday, August 30th.
ICA events are scheduled outside the Johnson Center in the center of campus and will move inside to Dewberry Hall if we finally get some rain. Mason athletics has three stations that will test your athletic skills, including radar to clock your fastball, basketball hoops to challenge your shooting skills and the notorious dunk tank, and winners will be awarded prizes.
If you consider dunking one of the George Mason coaches at the dunk tank as a prize take your shot at softball's Erica Ayers, volleyball's Fred Chao, basketball's Jim Larranaga, lacrosse's Liz Schaffner or baseball's Jeff Palumbo, who have all signed up to take the hot seat.
Bring your camera to take a photo with Gunston or with the life-size cutouts of Folarin Campbell and Will Thomas, two returning starters from the men's basketball team. The Mason pep band, cheer teams and Masonettes will perform from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Please join the rest of Mason Nation in celebrating the new school year.
