Fairfax, Va. (August 17, 2006)-- George Mason Athletic Director Tom O'Connor announced today that Adam Brick, former Interim Director of Athletics at Georgetown University, has accepted a newly created position at George Mason University as the Senior Associate Athletic Director, External Relations.

"Adam brings to George Mason a strong and extensive background as an athletic administrator in both management and fundraising," said O'Connor. "As Mason athletics moves forward, more of an emphasis needed to be placed on external relations and fundraising. I am extremely pleased with Adam's experience and the terrific job he did at Georgetown especially in his interim year as Athletic Director; where under his guidance a successful campaign to raise money for facilities was achieved."

After leaving Georgetown he founded Brick Athletic Consulting, LLC which provides management consulting, strategic planning services and innovative problem solving for intercollegiate athletic programs.

"It's an exciting time at George Mason," said Brick. "The basketball team is coming off a banner season and the University has stated a priority for capital improvements regarding athletic facilities. My challenge is to help make that vision a reality."

Brick has served as an adjunct faculty member in the Georgetown McDonough School of Business teaching a course in sports marketing. He also was an adjunct professor of sports law in the MBA Sport Management program at Florida Atlantic University.

Brick was a member of the Georgetown community since his graduation from the McDonough School of Business in 1986. He worked his way up through the ranks of the athletic department, beginning as the assistant director of intramural sports and special programs to Interim Director of Athletics from July 2004-July 2005.

He was the Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Legal Affairs for five years prior to taking over Athletic Director duties for the Hoyas. He was responsible for NCAA legislation and compliance, was the sport administrator for ten sports and had administrative oversight of Hoyas Unlimited, the fundraising organization for athletics. In addition, he was responsible for coordinating Georgetown's efforts with respect to Title IX and the NCAA Athletics Certification program.

In 1990 he received his juris doctor from Georgetown Law Center. In June 1993 he was promoted to assistant director of athletics. In July 1997 he was again promoted to associate director of athletics, and in August 1999 to senior associate director of athletics.

Brick is a member of the District of Columbia Bar as well as the Virginia Bar. He served as a member of the NCAA Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet, the NCAA Legislative Review and Interpretations Subcommittee and also was a member of the NCAA Subcommittee on Agents and Amateurism.
