Fairfax, Va. -- George Mason Director of Athletics Tom O'Connor announced today that Scott King has accepted the position of head coach of the men's golf team. He replaces Linda Gaudi, who resigned after seven seasons to devote more time to golf instruction, but will continue to be involved at Mason as a volunteer coach.

King comes to Mason with a solid background in collegiate coaching having spent five years at the College of William and Mary and two years at Eastern Michigan University. He was the director of golf from 1998-2003 for the Tribe and coached both the men's and women's teams. In 2002, he earned Coach of the Year honors from the Colonial Athletic Association, VaSID and the Mid-Atlantic Region. The Tribe men received an at-large bid to the 2002 NCAA Eastern Regional. Seven of his players were scholastic All-Americans and seven are currently playing golf professionally.

He spent two seasons at Eastern Michigan University as head coach for the women's golf program before moving back to the Washington, DC area in 2005 as an instructor and junior golf coordinator at Reston National Golf Course.

The Springfield, Va. native has been a PGA Class A Professional for 12 years. He has been the coordinator for Nike Jr. Golf Camps for the past seven years. King also spent time as an assistant professional at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg and the Country Club of Fairfax.
