BALTIMORE, Md. - Defender Michele Brady (Fairfax, Va./Paul VI) has been selected to participate in the 2006 Division I North/South Senior All-Star Game, scheduled for Saturday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Johns Hopkins University as part of the 2006 IWLCA Farewell Lacrosse Festival presented by STX.
Three games will be played at the festival, which is intended to highlight women's lacrosse and collegiate seniors. The Division III game will be played at 11 a.m., with the Division II game following at 1 p.m., and the Division I contest closing out the afternoon. A committee of women's lacrosse head coaches chaired by Loyola head coach Kerri O'Day selected the game's participants.
Brady's outstanding four-year career at George Mason earned her a selection to the South Team. After starting eight games during her freshman year in 2003, including the final six contests, Brady starred in her sophomore season for the Patriots in 2004, starting all 17 games and anchoring a defense that ranked second nationally and first in the CAA in caused turnovers per game. She recorded 37 caused turnovers and ranked second in the conference in caused turnovers per game with an average of 2.18 per contest.
She followed that up with an amazing junior season in 2005, playing every minute of the Patriots' 17 games, causing 30 turnovers and scooping up 38 ground balls for a Mason defense that led the CAA in caused turnovers per game. Her performance helped lead the Patriots to a school-record 5-2 mark in conference play and a tie for second place in the regular season standings.
In her final season in 2006, Brady started 15 games, causing 19 turnovers and grabbing 32 ground balls to garner Second-Team All-CAA honors, her third consecutive selection to the All-CAA Team after being named to the Second Team in 2004 and the First Team in 2005.
In addition to the All-CAA honors she received during her career, Brady was also named to the IWLCA/USL Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team in 2005 and was selected to the VaSID All-Virginia Second-Team in 2004. She ranks fourth all-time at Mason in caused turnovers with 95 during her career.
