The women's tennis team won at Norfolk State yesterday 5-2 in very windy conditions. The Patriots improved to 9-7 for the season after having won 7 of their last 8 matches.
Mason earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches. Top duo Andreea Fusea and Maricel Ballester defeated the team of Valdiova/Morris, 8-4 and Jen Dektas and Julie Moscato teamed up to defeat Degirmenci/Peterson, 8-0.
In singles action, playing at No. 4 for the Patriots Julie Moscato didn't lose a game in her win against Donita Peterson. Two matches went to three sets, including Mason's Fusea defeating Norfolk State's Fiorella Valdivia, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to earn a point and Jen Dektas taking Lerissa Morris to three sets before losing 6-4, 0-6, 4-10. Maricel Ballester and Alicia Van Zandt also earned points for the Patriots.
The team travels to Virginia State on Thursday and to CAA foe UNC Wilmington on Friday before returning home to face Delaware on Sunday.
