Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's softball team (3-40) will face first-year program, Georgetown (1-19), on April 19 for a non-conference doubleheader at George Mason Field beginning at 3 p.m.
The Patriots are led by freshman Kelsey Mack (Reading, Pa.) who owns a team-best .300 batting average for those athletes who have played in 30 or more games. Mack also leads Mason in runs (19), hits (36), doubles (7), homeruns (5) and has collected a team second-best 13 RBI. Sophomore Emily Miller (Springfield, Va.) has played in 41 games for the Patriots and is second among teammates in hits (32), leads with 14 RBI and sits third with five doubles.
Mason has now won two-straight as the Patriots took two from James Madison while in Harrisonburg this past weekend. The second game of the doubleheader on April 14, Mason walked away with a 2-1 victory and came back the next day to claim an 8-4 defeat over the Dukes.
Georgetown is led by Cathy Richter who has a .362 batting average and who also has a team-best nine RBI. Katharine Lang has connected on a team-high 19 hits and also leads the Hoyas in scoring with 10 runs. Georgetown's lone win of the season came on March 12 when the Hoyas defeated Coppin State by a score of 7-2 at the Coppin Classic.
