Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's tennis team improved to 8-7 on the year after defeating Drexel, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Mason Courts.
Andrea Fusea and Maricel Ballester defeated Emily Lewis and Melissa Lewis of Drexel in the No. 1 doubles slot by a score of 8-1, while Jen Dektas and Julie Moscato also won at the No. 2 spot, 8-2.
Ballester shut-out Hana Stecovo of Drexel, 6-0/6-0, in the No. 2 spot for singles, while Fusea defeated the Dragons' Emily Lewis by scores of 6-0 and 6-2 at No. 1. Jen Dektas defeated Melissa Lewis (6-3, 6-1), while Moscato won at the No. 4 spot against Jaimie Wylie (6-0, 6-2). Alicia Van Zandt also helped in Mason's victory as she defeated Kristy Pron 6-4/6-3 at No. 5.
The Patriots will return to action when they play Norfolk State on April 4 in Norfolk, Va. at 2:30 p.m.
