Fairfax, Va.--George Mason University's women's tennis team defeated Howard University Friday afternoon at the Mason Courts by a score of 5-2 to improve the Patriots' overall record to 7-7.
Mason's No. 1 through No. 4 spots all claimed victories in the singles competition, including Jen Dektas (No. 3) who defeated Lauren Martin 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 10-2. Two doubles pairs came out on the winning end as Andrea Fusea and Maricel Ballester won at the No. 1 slot, while Dektas and Julie Moscato won at the No. 2 spot.
"This was a very pleasant win after our lackluster performance at American University earlier in the week," said head coach Stephen Curtis.
